FROM THE TUCSON AIRPORT
Arivaca is the last existing Federal
Township, tracing its roots to the Hohokam Indians. Apache
Battles were fought here. Gold and silver strikes have been
made. Cattle Ranching has also found a home here. Now the
area lures artists, astronomy buffs, birders, hikers,
hunters and fisherman.
This "sky island" in the Sonoran Desert is at an elevation
of 3800 feet. The area has cooler climates and more
precipitation than lower elevations. The sunsets are
gorgeous, and the local history is incredible.
Testimonial I was hesitant to stay here for the
winter, last winter I was in Boulder City, NV with heavy
winds all winter making winter feel quite miserable. This
has the same elevation. I was surprised to find such a
calm mild winter here with little to no wind. I've enjoyed
the charm of this little town. Pleased with the well stocked
grocery store in town, plus the little festivals, Saturday
Market and the option to take the in town shuttle to Green
Valley for a trip to Walmart. It's so peaceful and quiet and the benefit of having
Sweet Pea's on the premises, I was so appreciative of that.
